Job description

We are looking for people with a proven track record of high levels of customer service, and experience of providing a professional service to customers to join our team at Hull Register Office.
As a Casual Registration Officer, you will join a pool of staff who are called upon to support our ceremony service during busy times of the year.
There are many aspects to this role, and you will be expected to work flexibly across all elements performing duties to meet the needs of the service. You will attend ceremonies both at our ceremony room at the Guildhall and also at other approved venues across the city.
In this role you will contribute towards the co-ordination of service provision at the Guildhall. Ensuring appropriate access to and use of the building and ceremony room. Greet guests and ensure each party receives a personal service and undisrupted access to facilities. You must be able to host ceremonies and assert authority organising large numbers with confidence.
You will perform legal preliminaries prior to marriage ceremonies to ensure that all information to be recorded on the legal record is current and accurate. To do this you must experience of working in a legislation driven environment and be able to interpret and understand law relating to marriage and civil partnership. Accuracy skills are essential along with a methodical approach, attention to detail and the correctness of spellings.
You will be required to conduct a range of ceremonies, both legal and non-legal that are suitable and befitting for the occasion. High developed communication skills with the ability to present information both clearly and appropriately to the needs of wide range audiences is a must along with experience of public speaking and presenting information to a large audience.
This role is on a casual basis only and has no set working pattern or regular hours. Most ceremonies take place between Easter and October with Fridays and Saturdays being popular days. You must be regularly available on weekends, including Sundays and Bank Holidays. Any requests to work are usually prearranged, based on availability, and planned on a monthly basis, but you may also be asked to work at short notice.
