An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team in the Mathematics Research Centre (MRC) in the Warwick Mathematics Institute.

The role will provide event support to the MRC. The MRC hosts regular seminars, conferences and workshops. This role will involve receiving deliveries of food and drink and setting it out with appropriate food allergen and dietary information. Other event support may include basic administrative tasks including, but not limited to, badge making; attendance recording and compiling conference packs.

This role will also be required to provide a daily tea and coffee service to the department as well as service the weekly department Colloquium event. This role will be responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy kitchen adhering to food safety standards.

This role will also provide wider departmental support including, for example, the filling up of photocopier paper and stock taking.

It should be notes that some events run by the MRC take place outside of standard office hours and support at these would be expected. Advanced notice will be given of these and time off in lieu will be given where appropriate.

About You

The post holder will be educated to GCSE level and will have Maths and English at Grade C or above.

This role will ideally suit someone who has experience of working in Catering and hospitality and Events. Knowledge of food hygiene and allergy awareness would be an advantage.

The ideal candidate will be a people person who possesses strong communication skills and who strives to provide a good customer service.

They will enjoy offering support at events and will understand the importance of the role they will play in ensuring events run smoothly and the importance of these events to the department.

The post holder will need to be able to use their initiative and work with minimal supervision.

The post holder will thrive in a busy environment and will be able to manage their time effectively.

We have a friendly Professional Services Team of approximately 30 staff who provide the administrative support to ensure the department can successfully deliver on all it offers in a professional and positive way. The Professional Services Team includes, but is not limited to, a Taught Programmes team who support our undergraduate and postgraduate taught students; teams working to support our postgraduate research students; an AMSP team who are responsible for delivering the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme which is a government-funded initiative aimed to increase participation in Core Maths, AS and A Level Maths and Further Maths, the Finance team and a team who work in the Mathematics Research Centre (MRC), which is there to support our large programme of academic seminars, workshops and conferences.
