Catering and Hospitality Tutor

Well look no further !...Sodexo are currently seeking a passionate Catering and Hospitality Tutor to work within HMP YOI Bronzefield. As a Catering and Hospitality Tutor you will provide learners support to learn, develop and increase their catering level and pass a recognised qualification. You will work alongside the catering manager and vocational curriculum lead and external agencies/companies such as Marriott, Hilton and wider within Sodexo to increase prisoners’ employability after release.  With your passion for people you will help to manage learning, challenge negative behaviour and increase self-esteem whilst delivering accredited and non-accredited work based learning within a coffee shop environment. You will ensure high standards of hygiene and service and work with the department to help meet attendance measures and qualification targets.Working in a prison might not be what you imagine. You will find the residents in general have a positive attitude to learning which in turn creates a nice teaching atmosphere. You will be part of a thriving department that is the heart of HMP & YOI Bronzefield, and will work alongside a team of creative and innovative teachers who encourage and empower our residents to take responsibility for their learning. With significantly smaller class sizes, typically ranging from 6 to 12 students, our tutors can adopt a learner-centric approach, customising teaching methods to cater to individual needs. Additionally, the requirement for learner files to remain on-site and the inclusion of dedicated preparation and marking time means no home marking and better work life balance. This allows our tutors to focus their energy on in-class instruction and student support.This is both a challenging and rewarding role, where you directly impact the future of our prisoners, by equipping them with the tools they need to incorporate stability in their lives upon release. Main ResponsibilitiesWork effectively and efficiently with the Catering Manager and Vocational Curriculum Lead to produce innovative and stimulating lessons for prisoners to encourage participation whatever level the prisoners are starting fromEnsure the training and supervision of prisoners within a working coffee shop environment called Vita NovaEffectively plan courses and lessons by preparing and using schemes of work and lesson plans for all classes for the benefit of the learner as for evidence at audit/lesson observationsTo ensure all relevant policies and procedures, such as Security, Health and Safety and Prisoner Welfare, are adhered to and take responsibility of the work areaIdentify the needs of individuals in classes and groups and develop differentiate teaching methods and resources accordinglyAssist in any marketing strategies related to courses, delivery and training within normal work hours and out of normal work hoursPromote the brand of Vita Nova/Sodexo/Aspretto, increase range of products, support the sale of the items EssentialFull teaching qualification (Minimum of CTLLS) or PGCE or working towards ORAssessor qualificationRecognised catering knowledgeExperience of delivering catering/hospitality/barista accredited qualifications Recognised Level 3 qualification or above in an identified subject and professional experienceTo have an interest in the rehabilitation and resettlement of offendersTo have an ability to communicate effectively at all times through different mediums, including spoken and written communication DesirableExperience of instructing/supporting people with challenging behaviour  Experience in a prison environment  Package DescriptionWorking with Sodexo is more than a job; it’s a chance to be part of something greater.
