Manpower is recruiting Catering Assistants to work for our public sector client, the NHS. This position provides an excellent opportunity for you as full training is provided.

Working hours
You will be required to work shifts on a rota basis to include weekends. Shifts are between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm. Full flexibility is required.
Hourly rate
£11.45 Weekdays
£16.14 Saturdays and nights
£20.95 Sundays and Bank Holidays
The Role
Working as part of a team you will deliver a catering service to patients, staff, students and visitors ensuring standards and processes are maintained and adhered to in accordance with Food Hygiene Legislation.
Main responsibilities:
Food Preparation and Serving:
- Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals, ensuring all dietary requirements are met.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with NHS guidelines.
Food Safety and Hygiene:
- Adhere to food safety standards and regulations, including proper storage, handling, and disposal of food items.
- Perform regular cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
Meal Delivery:
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of meals to patients, staff, and visitors.
- Assist in setting up and clearing down dining areas.
Customer Service:
- Provide friendly and courteous service to patients, staff, and visitors.
- Address any dietary or meal-related queries and escalate issues as necessary.
Stock Management:
- Monitor and replenish food and kitchen supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
- Assist in inventory checks and report shortages or discrepancies.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation, including temperature checks and cleaning schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and procedures.
Team Collaboration:
- Work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive working environment.
- Attend and participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
Special Dietary Needs:
- Assist in the preparation of special diet meals, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary restrictions.
- Ensure accurate labeling and correct distribution of special diet meals.
Waste Management:
- Properly manage and dispose of kitchen waste in accordance with NHS policies.
- Contribute to recycling and sustainability initiatives.
Health and Safety:
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Report any hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
Requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Attention to detail and adherence to hygiene and safety standards
- Food Hygiene Certificate - Level 2 (Manpower can support with this)
- Standard DBS check (Manpower pays for the cost of this)
