About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a catering professional to teach in the classroom and kitchens sharing their knowledge and expertise, whilst influencing the next generation of skilled chefs. Alongside you will also be responsible for maintaining our high standards in production at Wharcliffe Restaurant.
Within this role you will work as part of the curriculum team to develop the skills of learners at all levels whilst working in the production kitchen, carrying out demonstrations, teaching different cooking methods and types of food, developing learners’ skills from entry 3 to level 3.
With an enthusiastic and engaging approach, you will have the ability to motivate students and support them to achieve their potential. You will support the learner experience within the production of food for the Wharncliffe restaurant whilst supporting and developing learners’ skills within a commercial production kitchen. You will be expected to work 37 hours over 4/5 days including two evenings a week when the restaurant is open for service.
You will…
- play an important role in developing creative resources to inspire outstanding learning and will be responsible for the monitoring and tracking of learner progress to promote positive outcomes for learners.
- Candidates should be an effective and motivated team player, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues and management to achieve strategic and organisational objectives.
- You will have experience of teaching learners 16-18 in a catering environment and hold a vocational qualification at Level 3 or above. You will also hold a relevant teaching qualification and assessors award, or be willing to work towards.
- You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths or be willing to work towards.
- You will be able to bring the subject to life, using combined methods of practical, theoretical and digital which will engage your learners and provide them with the best skills, knowledge and behaviours for the future.
