CBC LtdHead of Programmes and Delivery
The Cambridge Biomedical Campus is the largest concentration of healthcare, education and research in Europe. In 2023 the UK Government recognised the strategic significance of the Campus to the success of the country’s global ambitions in life sciences. Organisations on the Campus work together through CBC Ltd, a non-profit company dedicated to collective action driving the delivery of our vision to be the world’s leading biomedical campus. Organisations within CBC Ltd include the University of Cambridge, Astra Zeneca, Abcam, the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Together our members employ over 20,000 people on the Campus, which is set to rise to 40,000 by 2040. Every year activities on the campus generate over £2.2bn in gross value added for the UK economy. Formed in 2021, CBC Ltd is a rapidly evolving organisation and is recruiting a new member of the team to bring new capabilities in business development, programme management and Delivery. If you are interested in joining this small, dynamic team, addressing priorities of national significance, please contact Nick Kirby, CBC Ltd Managing Director for a confidential conversation about the role at nick.kirby@cambridgebiocampus.co.uk. The closing date for applications is 9am on 13 December, with interviews scheduled for the morning of 18 December.
CBC Ltd was formed in 2021 by the largest organisations on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, providing a vehicle for collective action to realise the shared ambition to be world leading in health, education and life sciences. Our ambition is set out in the 2050 Vision and work undertaken since 2022 to develop a plan for how the campus should be developed. In summer 2023, the Government set out it’s commitment to realise the potential for Cambridge as a global centre for life sciences. Objectives CBC Ltd undertake for members encompass three areas: i. Curation of Place: making the campus environment and programme of activities the best it can be for the people who work here, visitors and members of our local community. ii. Optimal Development: ensuring the strategy for developing the campus is taken forward through a holistic masterplan, effectively engaging with government stakeholders at local, regional and national levels, as well as with people in our local community. iii.Communications and Engagement: ensuring the campus has a strategic approach to working with the breadth of stakeholders and deploys effective communications through a spectrum of suitable channels. We are recruiting a new role to strengthen our capability to accelerate the delivery of our agenda. There is a particular emphasis on: i. Programme and project: expertise in project management and programme delivery, augmenting our capabilities across the CBC portfolio. ii. Business development: advancing cases for investment from external organisations where there is a compelling collective value proposition. iii.Network curation: establishing a broad network of trusting, long term relationships across member organisations and external partners in order to implement the 2050 vision. iv.Team building and leadership: as a senior team member, there is a key role working with colleagues to enable people to realise their potential. Successful candidates will work alongside executive and operational leaders across the campus to lead on delivering shared priorities, as well as collaborating closely with the CBC Ltd team. Projects range from physical improvements to the campus environment, the transformation of the experience people working on campus have and shaping strategic plans for development of the campus, determining our position as an international centre of excellence over the next 30 years. You will be expected to work autonomously to lead and support the delivery of complex programmes of work and may be involved in a range of activities, from strategy and analysis, to operational management, to programme initiation and Delivery. We welcome applications from candidates with a wide range of professional backgrounds, including those with project management, business development, operations, transformation and strategy experience. The ability to apply your skillset to a range of areas - including projects focused on estates, training & skills, innovation and events - will be essential.
