CGL are seeking to recruit a Central and Eastern European Homelessness Project (CEEHP) Coordinator to work in this well-established team in Wisbech. Language skills are essential: We are currently looking for an individual with Latvian or Bulgarian language skills. Fixed Term – 12 months Contract
- To assist in the prevision of in-reach clinics to Central and Eastern European (CEE) clients in Wisbech and in cooperation with partner agencies.
- To identify, engage and case manage longer term and entrenched CEE rough sleepers in the Wisbech area who were migrant workers and who have been exploited and illegally evicted from HMO’s and other private rented accommodation.
- To preventing people returning to the streets once they receive the right advice and support.
- To undertake with CEE client’s language specific preventative work ensuring CEEs are aware of their legal rights in relation to welfare and benefits and supporting individuals to engage with Job Centre Plus.
- To undertake with CEE client’s comprehensive assessments and support plans, actively engaging them with longer term accommodation and facilitating access to education information courses, training, and employment.
- To provide a coordinated advice service in Fenland linking in with specialist advisors (both statutory and voluntary) to tackle solutions and barriers to homelessness, benefits issues, training, work including volunteering, health and wellbeing including mental health, reconnections, and voluntary repatriations.
- To provide advice and information on addictions services ensuring that CEE clients who have drug and alcohol problems can access appropriate services.
- To work with CEE clients who may seek reconnections and support them to reconnect rapidly to their home nations in communication with Fenland District Council Housing Options Team.
- To work with CEEHP clients supporting them to register with a GP and enable facilitated access to appointments with housing providers, employment agencies and other as required and to assist with translation.
- To work collaboratively with Fenland District Councils Housing Options Team to explore accommodation options, benefits advice, deposits and tackling illegal eviction and harassment.
- To work in partnership with Fenland District Council and Operation Luscombe sharing information about HMO’s and other private rented accommodation and exploited migrant workers who access support clinics, ensuring that migrant workers are not illegally evicted.
- To assist in the development of language specific advice and information leaflets, informing migrant workers about their rights to access accommodation, welfare and support services and legal rights regarding harassment and illegal evictions and maintenance of tenancies
About you:
- Experience and well-developed knowledge of housing or related field
- Ability to speak central European, Eastern European, or have Russian language skills that could include Lithuanian, Latvian and Polish.
- Demonstrable organisation skills

- Experience that demonstrates problem solving ability
- Ability to adapt positively to change
- Ability to work on your own within the service
- Ability to support with outreach shifts
