The role
It’s an exciting time to join Freebridge as it looks to modernise and develop its service offering to customers over the coming years. As Chair of the Board, you will provide leadership and direction to a diverse, cohesive Board, providing oversight and scrutiny to the organisation’s operations and ensuring the right balance between ambition and ‘getting the basics right’. You will represent the organisation in the wider community and leverage your knowledge, connections and networks to enhance the reputation of Freebridge across the region. As an inclusive leader, you’ll be adept at encouraging input from all Board members, creating a ‘healthy’ challenge culture but will also have the courage to make difficult decisions when needed.
The Organisation
Freebridge Community Housing was set up in 2006 to receive the transfer of homes from the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk. Today, it owns and manages around 7,000 homes across West Norfolk, making a difference to thousands of customers within communities across an area of almost 550 square miles. Freebridge has an annual turnover of £30m and employ well over 200 people, including an in-house Homes and Community Maintenance team.
Who we are looking for?
This role requires and experienced Non-Executive Director or Board Chair with a clear social purpose and interest in improving the lives of the people in West Norfolk. You will drive operational grip, whilst maintaining a strategic focus and making sure the two are connected. As a confident communicator and relationship builder, you’ll create a culture of positive challenge and high standards within the Board as well as nurturing connections across the wider region.
