The Opportunity
EDF Research & Development (R&D) UK are advancing research in the fields of Nuclear, Offshore Wind, Energy Systems, Flexibility & Storage, Zero Emissions Mobility and Smart Digital Technologies. Chemistry & Corrosion R&D is building the water chemistry research capability within the R&D Nuclear group.
We are looking for a talented Research Engineer to deliver R&D programmes associated with the chemistry and corrosion disciplines.

What you'll be doing
In this role you will deliver R&D projects focusing on water chemistry for our EDF Nuclear plants. Working collaboratively with technical experts from across the varied business units within EDF UK, you will be looking at water based nuclear applications with Pressurised Water Reactors (PWRs) as the primary focus and advanced reactors and fusion applications.
As the Chemistry & Corrosion Research Engineer, you will work closely with colleagues across the wider EDF R&D UK team, EDF UK Nuclear Service and EDF France. You will collaborate with academia and other industrial partners to ensure the latest information and understandings of relevant topics are shared.
You will be supporting the team in building the water chemistry research capability and providing greater understanding of the influence of chemistry on degradation mechanism, contributing to improved equipment reliability for safe and reliable operation of nuclear power plants.
Who you are
We are looking for somebody with a chemistry, corrosion science or engineering background and strong industrial/research experience on chemistry and corrosion related engineering challenges. It would be beneficial if you had experience of working on research projects related to PWR technology.
You will have solid knowledge in Nuclear Plant Chemistry and the ability to work with multiple organisations and stakeholders, both internal and external. You'll demonstrate excellent organisation and time management with evidence of delivering projects and research work which has made an impact.
