Bursaries and scholarships from: £10,000 – £30,000 (applies to eligible trainees starting September 2024)

About the role: 

You will be training to be a Chemistry or Physics teacher - this is a great opportunity to train to teach outstanding lessons and therefore help pupils achieve excellent academic results in your subject.  

In this role, you will engage in rigorous and continuous professional development to exceed the minimum level of practice expected of teachers as defined in the Teachers’ Standards. You will be able to demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct, and be a role-model, positively impacting the academy more widely.

About Ark Teacher Training

Ark Teacher Training (ATT) is a school-based programme offering the perfect mixture of theory and classroom practice to develop you into the best teacher you can be. Our training is comprehensive and practical; you will be able to achieve your QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) all in one year. Our programme is rated as outstanding in all categories by Ofsted and is incredibly supportive and bespoke, meaning you can progress at your own pace.

Locations:London, Birmingham, Portsmouth, Hastings (full list of Ark Schools here)

We currently have Chemistry spaces remaining in the following schools:

  • Ark John Keats Academy, Ark Soane Academy, Ark King Solomon Academy, Ark Academy (Physics)
  • Ark Walworth Academy

Key requirements:

  • Grade C/4 or above in Maths GCSE and English GCSE (or equivalent)
  • Hold an undergraduate bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) prior to beginning your Teacher Training (i.e. you will hold your degree by 31 July 2024 latest)  
  • Degree and/or A level in the subject you want to teach (or a closely related subject) 
  • Evidence of a commitment to working with young people
  • Experience of overcoming challenges successfully
  • Ability to demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
  • Right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the training year (August 2024 through August 2025 minimum)
