OnSide believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to discover their passion and purpose. They're a national charity that fund and build groundbreaking, multimillion-pound Youth Zones in the country's most disadvantaged areas. Barnsley Youth Zone will be the first OnSide Youth Zone in Yorkshire, with building scheduled for completion in early 2025.
Salary: £55 - 60K (dependent on experience)

About the Role:
Barnsley is proud of its industrial past. A robust former mining town in South Yorkshire, it's famed for its markets, brass bands and rich coal mining heritage. Barnsley Youth Zone will enhance the town by providing a destination for its young people. It will be a state-of-the-art space with over 20 activities to try each session, staffed by skilled youth workers who believe in young people and help them realise their aims and achievements.
As Chief Executive, you'll be responsible for a revenue budget of £1.5m per annum. Pre-opening, you will have a four-month placement, touring and observing other Chief Executives, their teams and the Youth Zones. You'll work closely with the Trustee Board and Senior Leadership Team towards the ongoing development and evolution of the Youth Zone's strategy and services. By delivering a robust funding plan, you'll enable and empower the organisation and its brand-new team to thrive and become a living, breathing entity that is deeply rooted in its community.
Growing and inspiring a passionate team is a vital part of the job, helping them to be effective as individuals and a collective. You'll support them to develop and deliver a wide range of innovative activities for the young people of Barnsley and surrounding areas.

We're looking for someone who can provide clear leadership and inspiration to a talented team. You'll be strategic as well as hands-on, able to influence effectively at the most senior levels and get to grips with the finer detail.
You'll need to demonstrate the ability to lead effectively across service delivery and income generation, with a robust oversight of governance and finance.
Most importantly you'll have a genuine passion and commitment to improving the lives of young people.
