Job description

CatZero are a leading Humber-wide charity committed to making lasting positive and personal changes to people of all ages, including young people and full families, helping them into employment or training. Its unique way of working, through confidence-building activities, tailored plans and by using the organisation’s 72-foot Challenger yacht as a tool for change, has helped hundreds of people back into education, training, or simply on the path towards their goals.

After over 15 years of successful delivery of life-changing services across the Humber Region, CatZero are seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to deliver and further develop its innovative programmes and to lead its small, dedicated team.

After much planning, the current Chief Executive will be standing down from his role in 2024 and the Trustees are seeking to appoint a new leader with the strategic vision and commercial acumen to further build on CatZero’s strong operational and reputational foundations and further develop the charity’s impact and resilience.

With experience of service delivery and safeguarding across adult or children’s services, and empathy for the beneficiaries of such services, our new Chief Executive will have knowledge of restorative practice or similar methods used in programmes which deliver lasting change.

They will have experience of navigating policy and fundraising within the charity sectors and will be able to identify relevant local, regional, and national funding opportunities for CatZero.

They will be a confident networker, presenter, and communicator, capable of creating and sustaining senior relationships with partners, funders, businesses, and other stakeholders.

Professionally curious and an advocate of innovation, they will be supportive in considering and adopting new ideas which can benefit the programme participants or employees, including the continued deployment of CatZero programmes across more areas of the Humber.

The new Chief Executive will lead an experienced, small, agile, collaborative team through this period of leadership change and will therefore be approachable and sensitive, whilst also pursuing opportunities for personal and corporate development and learning.

Supported by a Board of Trustees drawn from the business and professional community across the Humber, the new Chief Executive will be expected to base themselves within the Humber region in order that they can develop and sustain the necessary relationships and connections for success.

The successful candidate will attract a base salary of circa £70k, dependent on experience.

First stage interviews are presently scheduled for Monday 12th February and Tuesday 13th February 2023. Second stage interviews are presently scheduled for Tuesday 27th February and Wednesday 28th February 2023. All interviews will take place in the Humber region.
