Who we are.

Keele SU is located at the heart of the largest single-site campus in Europe. We exist to empower every student to be who they want to be and make a difference in the world.

We do this through the delivery of our quality support, activity, representation, entertainment and value-for-money services. We ensure that our students feel part of a community which is inclusive, where they can grow in confidence and simply be students.

We have a warm, embracing, quirky close-knit team that we are proud of. We work through our values of being supportive, friendly, and creative and we put students first in all that we do.

We have grown our commercial services significantly with the development of our franchised CO-OP store, which is often one of the top 10 performing CO-OP’s in the whole of the UK.

About the role.

Despite our growth, our funding and income have not risen in line with the cost-of-living challenges in the UK and our staffing costs have increased significantly. We are actively looking at ways to address this and will have taken some actions on this prior to our Chief Executive starting, to ensure that our new Chief Executive can focus on long-term vision.

We have excellent levels of student engagement and feel that there are significant opportunities ahead for Keele SU. Our university partner is in the process of establishing their new 10-year plan, and it will be important for our next Chief Executive to ensure that we also build a long-term strategic vision that can meet the needs of our current and future students.

We want our Chief Executive to have an ambitious vision for the future with the leadership ability and communication skills to support and empower our staff and elected officers to deliver real impact. It will be important that our Chief Executive can work in partnership with a complex range of stakeholders and can deliver financial sustainability within a complex charitable and commercial portfolio.

As we continue to develop and grow, it will be important to Keele SU and Keele University that we build further social and environmental sustainability wherever possible. We hope our Chief Executive can embody a strong commitment to sustainability.
