Join us at this exciting time in our development, were we are building a leadership team to continue our journey of learning and improvement and are seeking to appoint to the Chief Medical Officer role following the retirement of the current post holder. As member of the Board, you will make a significant impact on the Trust’s future growth and have responsibility for strategic clinical leadership across the Trust and act as Responsible Officer for the organisation. You will play a crucial role in developing the Trust’s Clinical Strategy with the Chief Nurse Officer, working closely with stakeholders at all levels of our organisation and system. You will lead on delivering the Trust’s ambitions in addressing population health and working towards health equity through the tackling of health inequalities. The role will hold responsibility for research and development across the Trust.
We are keen to hear from experienced, inspiring and values-based leaders with extensive experience gained as a consultant. Experience in supporting clinicians and teams to apply improvement methods to enhance quality and productivity is also essential. You will have an engaging and inclusive leadership style that exemplifies the trust’s values and empowers colleagues to uphold standards of excellence.

The Chief Medical Officer at Lancashire &South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is an Executive Director and a voting member of the Board. The purpose of the job is to provide strategic clinical leadership across the Trust and act as Responsible Officer for the organisation. The post holder will be required to work closely and collaboratively with other Chief Officers and Network Medical Directors.
The Chief Medical Officer is a key contributor to overall strategy and decision-making within the Trust. Providing exceptional professional leadership for medical colleagues across the trust, the Chief Medical Officer will take the lead for education, training and development and revalidation of medical colleagues and provide effective advice on medical issues and quality and clinical governance matters. This role will also take lead responsibility for delivering the Trust’s ambitions in addressing population health and working towards health equity through the tackling of health inequalities. The role will hold responsibility for research and development across the Trust.
All Directors are expected to work as part of a cohesive team, contributing to the Trust’s Strategic Leadership and direction and, when necessary, take lead responsibility for corporate issues outside their immediate sphere of responsibility.
