The Role

This role requires extensive experience working in children’s content, community and product development, as well as solid working knowledge of policy developments related to kids digital privacy, safeguarding and wellbeing.

You understand how to translate evolving legal protections into real-world execution of safeguarding measures in digital services used by kids, and you will apply that knowledge to (1) enable best practice standards for all of SuperAwesome’s products, and (2) strengthen SuperAwesome’s thought leadership and policy influence in the market; and (3) help SuperAwesome clients and partners enable best practices on their own child-directed services.

In this role you will work across all SA teams but most closely with the global kids policy and legal teams. You will develop new policies (internal and external) for keeping kids safe, developing new industry standards, producing compliance-related content for both business and consumer audiences, and driving new initiatives with the government, private and non-profit sectors.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide ‘front line’ review of customer- and partner-facing proposals as well as marketing and insights to ensure that our policies are consistently implemented and, most importantly, put kids first across our output.
  • Work with legal to ensure all kid-facing language and experiences represent the gold standard for disclosure and legal information, in a way that kids and teens can understand.
  • Support Policy leadership to regularly aggregate and publish the UK/ European and ecosystem policy and regulations to educate our internal teams and products. Additionally, provide support for remaining up to date on relevant platform policies (Fortnite, Roblox, YouTube, etc.). This will likely take the form of newsletters, training programs, and a central resource.
  • Work with SuperAwesome’s digital content creation teams to mentor and train all creative professionals in best practices when creating content for kids audiences.
  • Use your expertise and dynamic presentation skills to deliver our training sessions to key clients and partners on the subjects of data privacy, advertising best practices, moderation, safeguarding and community management; own all internal training & education on these topics. Maintain the library of content so it remains relevant and up to date.
  • Own relationships and develop key UK and EU relationships with government departments and safeguarding groups.
  • Maintain productive relationships with Child Safeguarding counterparts at key kids’ brands.
  • Support Policy and Executive leadership in identifying and pursuing public policy initiatives in support of our Global mission, including drafting of consultation responses, participating in key events, and proactively encouraging regulators and lawmakers to pursue pragmatic, tech-savvy and innovative regulatory reforms that align with our mission and business interests.
  • Focus on child development and the application of principles to product, and creative improvement across kid-facing content and platforms.
  • Lead the application of safeguarding best practices in SuperAwesome’s products and partnerships.
  • Work with SuperAwesome’s digital content creation teams to mentor and train all creative professionals in best practices when creating content for kids audiences.

Required Experience


  • Extensive experience in children’s content, community, and product development.
  • Strong knowledge of policy developments related to kids digital privacy, safeguarding, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to translate legal protections into practical safeguarding measures.
  • Experience in developing policies and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proactive in staying up to date and taking initiative on their own
  • Switched on in the area of children and teen privacy.
  • Deep knowledge in the advertising space, including adtech and creative guidelines (like the Advertising Standards Authority).
  • Up to date on all things UK policy, law and public sentiment.
