St Chad’s Community Project has been providing childcare to families in central Gateshead since 1990. Our Out of School Club is popular and vibrant and is used by up to 50 children every day. We also provide a crèche supporting families who attend activities at our project, and we operate a daytime childcare for 2, 3 & 4 year olds. We are seeking an experienced Childcare Worker to work across our provision. Applicants must be knowledgeable in the EYFS, child development, and have an understanding of safeguarding children.
The Role:
Each day at St Chad’s can vary so you need to be adaptable and ready to take on new challenges.
- To provide a safe and stimulating environment for the children in your care
- To work as part of a team to provide enriching experiences and age appropriate activities
- To safely escort children to and from school following the designated routes
- To prepare the childcare areas for activities whilst ensuring health and safety of the children at all times.
- To develop a key worker relationship with the children to whom you have been allocated, and liase closely with parents/carers.
- To support children with additional needs to enable them to access activities to the best of their ability
- To ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to.
- To work within the Ofsted and EYFS framework
- To plan, organise and deliver programmes of activities appropriate for the ages and abilities of the children in your care
- To ensure that, where necessary, children’s records are completed and kept up to date
- To care for children’s physical needs
- To ensure the provision of a high quality fully inclusive environment which meets the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds.
- To participate in regular team and staff meetings providing staff with updated reports on key children
- To undertake appropriate training and staff development exercises
The Hours:
This post is 16hrs per week. We open from 8.00 am to 6.00pm weekdays. We are looking for someone flexible in their approach to the working week.
About You
You should be:
- Level 3 qualified with at least 1 year experience of working in a childcare environment with 2-14 yr olds.
- Have good supervision skill and experience
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Have a good, pragmatic knowledge and understanding of Ofsted, QA frameworks and EYFS
- Good working knowledge and awareness of health and safety and risk management in childcare setting
- able to work with a people from a range of backgrounds with tact, sensitivity and confidentiality
- You will be required to have a clean and enhanced DBS.
