Children and Families Officer

Salary: c£23,000.00 per annum pro rata (more for exceptional candidate)

Hours: 30 per week (permanent), 2pm finish on a Friday

  •             Tues- Wed: 8.30am-5.00pm
  •             Thurs: 8.30am-5.30pm
  •             Friday:8.30-2.00pm

Location: North Leeds Office

For over 145 years, Leeds Jewish Welfare Board has provided support the Jewish community and North Leeds community. Our vision is to positively change lives and we do this by delivering an extensive range of community support and registered care services to over 1,000 people every month. 

Role Summary

We are looking for a Children and Families Officer to offer person-cantered approach to working with families and children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, and those requiring Early Help.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing, coordinating and leading on the delivery of an exciting range of provision to support the learning and development of children, activity groups, daily play sessions, community events and celebrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To build a trusting relationship with Children and Families to help alleviate social isolation and build confidence in parents and carers in supporting their child’s learning, development and social interaction. 
  • To offer practical and emotional support to parents and carers promoting resilience, and achievement of positive outcomes. 
  • To build knowledge and understanding of local resources, community and statutory services including health, education and social care. To identify any barriers to accessing services and work with individuals to overcome these. 
  • To support Children and Families to access to other LJWB services and activities, 

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Childcare qualification or relevant equivalent
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of EYFS and early childhood development
  • Proven experience of working within an early years or childcare setting
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work effectively in an environment that can sometimes be pressurised
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks whilst ensuring children, colleagues, parents and carers are respected and listened to
  • Enthusiasm for working with very young children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
