We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us as Social Work Apprentices in our Children, Lifelong Learning and Families Division in Merton, starting September 2024. You will be a motivated and committed individual who wants to make a difference and safeguard the children in our borough. You will work in partnership with children, parents, carers, and Families in a range of different settings to support and promote positive change in people's lives to improve their wellbeing and independence. You will learn to use professional judgement and build relationships with a variety of individuals, as well as with a wide range of other professionals and agencies. You will develop your ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate complex situations requiring the skills to critically reflect and make decisions within a clear professional code of ethics.
We are offering a fantastic opportunity to achieve a fully funded undergraduate degree in Social Work, whilst gaining ‘on the job’ experience to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a qualified Social Worker.
We are looking for applicants who:
- Can evidence suitable academic ability i.e., GCSE Maths and English (Grade A-C or 9-4) or equivalent;
- Have direct and varied work experience with Children and Families and have the potential to take on the challenges and responsibility of a qualified Social Worker;
- Are keen to learn and motivated to succeed;
After successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will gain a Bachelor degree in Social Work (England), which will enable you to apply for registration as a Social Worker with the regulatory body, Social Work England. Thereafter you will be supported to apply for a Newly Qualified Social Worker role at Merton Council.
