Job description

Weston College is seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and customer-focused individual into the new role of Children in Care Coordinator.

The post holder will be the operational lead for supporting young people who have for one reason, or another been taken into care. As a result, this role will be crucial in ensuring our Children Looked After and Care Leavers are able to access high quality and needs-led support that will enable them to achieve at college and in their life next steps, whatever they may be.

Although this is advertised as a full-time post (37 hours per week), we would be willing to consider an applicant who would wish to fulfil the role on an 80% basis (four days per week).

Working as part of a highly responsive and holistic service, the post holder will hold a caseload and will promote the emotional well-being of Children in Care, whilst forming professional and effective relationships with colleagues and outside agencies. This will include but not be limited to local authorities, carers, and other stakeholders to complete PEPs, whilst providing specialist pastoral intervention when required.

The Children in Care Coordinator will be a central point of initial contact within the College for Children in Care and will need to ensure the College meets the expectations placed upon it in.

They will play a key role in making sure arrangements are joined up and by promoting a whole college culture where the personalised learning needs of every Child Looked After and Care Leaver matters and their personal, emotional and academic needs are prioritised.

Student support services operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and the successful candidate will need to be highly organised, and have resilience which has been honed through experience of working with young people in a support-based role.
