Are you a passionate and dedicated Social Worker, with experience in Child Protection, looking for a new, thoroughly rewarding opportunity with a private company? We have a vacancy with a fantastic company that helps to support children and parents with learning disabilities.
We provide a Residential Parenting Assessment Service that helps parents with special needs and/or other challenges to keep their children in their care. We help parents to strengthen their bond with their children, to recognise their children’s needs and to learn how to meet those needs. We also support families who face difficult issues and decisions in their family life, and we guide them to put their children’s needs first.
The service is growing, and so we are looking for a Social Worker to join our Assessment Service for at least 3 days a week. This is a complex role, where you will work as part of a multidisciplinary assessment team, and where your daily work will make a big difference for the families we serve. The working hours/pattern for this role will be agreed with the Registered Manager; we can consider flexible working arrangements. All members of the team need to work flexibly to meet the service’s needs and to work regularly with the clients “on rota” throughout the week.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide a high-quality social work service within the Family Assessment Service, in line with company goals and all relevant legal requirements for children and vulnerable adults.
- Contribute to delivering high-quality assessments, care plans and support that are tailored to the unique needs of our clients, following the company’s Mission Statement, Aims and Objectives.
- Help to provide a skilled multidisciplinary assessment of families with special needs and/or challenges who may struggle to parent their children.
- Work closely with the families in our care to provide a social work service that meets their needs and focuses on positive outcomes.
- Work with the Registered Manager of the service to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children and vulnerable adults in our care through careful and thorough risk assessment.
- Work with the Registered Manager and the wider professional network around the child and vulnerable adults to follow appropriate safeguarding procedures if concerns arise.
- Serve as a key point of reference for safeguarding in the service.
Knowledge & Skills:
- An ability to integrate within a profession team and work jointly within a multi-disciplinary team in order to deliver the aims and objectives of the residential assessment service.
- Personal Resilience and ability to support and manage potentially stressful and challenging situations well.
- Strong organisational skills and capacity to self-manage workload in order to meet deadlines.
- Understanding and experience of the legal frameworks and processes around child protection.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Listening and observational skills.
- Computer literacy
Requirements for the role:
- Degree or Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent.
- SWE registration.
- At least 3 years post qualification experience.
- Child Protection experience.
- Familiarity with family courts processes.
