ScrumKids Rugby is a small business operating in various locations across the UK. We are creative, fun and passionate about engaging children with the sport of rugby as well as aiding their physical and social development.
We are looking for a coach to run already established sessions on a Saturday morning at Lipson Academy School, Plymouth. You don't have to be a rugby expert but a passion for getting children active and the ability to engage with children is essential.

ScrumKids is the home of rugby for children aged between two and eight years old!
Our kids rugby classes focus on getting children active and building a love for the game. We pride ourselves on offering high quality rugby sessions, whilst keeping it fun and engaging. It's not necessarily about teaching them the rules of rugby, but rather, developing the basic skills of the game and generating a passion for all sport.
Our expertise helps to build confidence, agility, social skills, and the foundations of a rugby ability in a passionate, highly energetic environment. Sessions are held across the UK and we are always looking to expand in to new areas.
ScrumKids Sessions
Classes are split in to three different age groups:
- 2-3.5 years (ScrumToddlers)
- 3.5-5 years (ScrumJuniors)
- 5 to 8 years (ScrumSeniors)
Sessions last between 30-40 mins depending upon the age group and ability. Session games can range from simple colour recognition exercises and basic movement challenges to handling drills or even full tag rugby matches.
ScrumKids Lead Coach Role
We are looking for energetic, committed coaches who are enthusiastic about getting children engaged with rugby and aren’t afraid to get a little silly with the kids.
You DON’T need to be a rugby expert but a little experience could help.
You DO need to be able to:
- Speak publicly with confidence (loudly!)
- Be comfortable around children
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of Sports Coaching
- Drive (as you will have your own set of equipment)
What We Offer:
£13 per hour (minimum take-home of £25 for leading a session)
+50p per child in your class (In addition to pay rate)
Example: Three back to back classes with 12 children in each class would total £39 for 3 hours plus £18 for 36 children across the three classes. Total of £57 for 2.5 hours of coaching (this rate can vary dependent upon experience).

- Opportunity to see sessions elsewhere with full ScrumKids training provided
- All uniform and equipment provided
- Venue provided (you may be able to assist with this)
- Potential to hold more sessions and earn more
- Committed coaches provided with RFU training (up to Level 2 standard)
Part-time hours: 2-3 per week (Saturday mornings). This is not a full time role, but ideal for someone looking to develop their coaching and earn a bit of extra cash whilst inspiring the next generation of sports stars.
