The Company:
Pretoria Energy is an ambitious, rapid-growth, renewable energy business at the forefront of globally relevant green biotechnologies.
Our in-house Engineering team is growing, to support continued business growth and development of specialist green-energy, anaerobic digestion technologies in conjunction with Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generation, bio-methane production and carbon capture.
The Role:
Based at our site near Ely, (Cambridgeshire) our Co-generation area consists of five Jenbacher 620 series and two Jenbacher 320 series CHP enginess, an ORC, a heat management room, a biogas upgrader and a biomass pelleting facility. We are also currently expanding our sites to increase our Biogas production and Biomethane outlet capacities.
In this role, you will form part of a four-man team, on a 4 on/4 off work rota. Your duties will be mainly based around the seven CHP engines, carrying out routine servicing and breakdown repairs. You will also carry out fault finding on equipment as required.
At times you will be asked to assist in other areas of the Co-Generation zone, working on compressors and pumps when required.
You will be involved in identifying parts required and stock control for Co-Generation equipment with the expectation of keeping downtime minimum. You will also be responsible for accurate record keeping using our computerised system and reporting information back to management.
· You will be required to perform routine servicing, repairs and maintenance, testing, inspection and fault-finding to a high standard.
· Working on a 4-on/4-off shift pattern with 12-hour shifts, days plus on-call cover
· It is important that work is done in a timely and organized manner, is of high-quality whilst always adhering to Health & Safety best practice.
· You will also be responsible for the relevant record keeping of work via the use of company maintenance logging systems, using a handheld tablet computer.
· Ad-hoc duties to ensure the smooth running of the business
The Person:
You will be an experienced Mechanical Engineer/Fitter ideally with a background in industrial or agricultural engineering, HGV or Marine engineering. You should be able to demonstrate your versatility, resourcefulness and resilience in Service, Repair, Maintenance & Installation and manage your workload effectively.
A forward-thinking, methodical attitude is important and the ability to work independently and in a timely manner is essential.

- Full UK driving licence (manual)
- Own reliable transport (no public transport available)
- Unrestricted right to work in the UK
Experience:
- Experience working with engines (gas engines would be an advantage, but not essential)
- Experience working in other aspects of mechanical engineering, e.g. Agricultural, Industrial, HGV or Marine Engines
- Observing best practice regarding Health and Safety at work
