Job description

Directorate: Housing Development and Growth
Section: Parking Services
Location: Cromer Road
Grade: Level 5
Actual Salary: £24,294 - £26,421
Hours: 37

This advert is open to both Internal and External applicants.

Do you enjoy working outdoors, helping people and have great communication skills?

Do you have excellent customer service skills and enjoy being active?

Our Civil Enforcement Officers are the eyes and ears of the local community, patrolling across Stoke and Staffordshire, keeping traffic moving and people safe, providing advice to residents, businesses and visitors, whilst enforcing traffic regulation orders fairly, accurately and consistently.

You will play a significant role in reducing traffic congestion, and improving air quality through the enforcement of parking restrictions.

Your day will be spent mostly outside, in all weathers and you will be dealing with members of the public face to face, so customer service must be something you enjoy, sometimes in difficult situations.

Basic computing skills would be an advantage, as you will be using a hand-held device daily.

You will be required to work 37 hours per week across a 6-week rotating shift pattern covering Monday to Sunday (including Bank Holidays).

Shifts vary so flexibility for the role is essential.

A full driving licence is essential.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnera
ble adults and we expect all our employees and volunteers to share this commitment.  This position is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Please note that if an employee who is currently at risk of redundancy within the organisation applies for this vacancy their application will receive priority.  If this happens you will be advised accordingly.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Stoke-on-Trent City Council values the diversity of its community and aims to have a workforce that reflects this – we therefore encourage applications from all sections of our community. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees – a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed together.
