Class 1 Driver

Key Responsibilities:

As Class 1 Driver you will support with the transportation of all material handling equipment to and from clients and suppliers,

• Completing daily vehicle checks ensuring vehicles are road worthy, reporting any defects immediately (i.e. oil, water, and tyre condition wheel nuts and any other items related to its legal operational condition)
• Cleaning vehicles, both inside and out to the standard required by DGMH
• Ensuring all material handling equipment is loaded onto the Low Loader correctly and safely secured
• Transporting material handling equipment to and from client sites, workshops and Dawsongroup company branches
• Taking responsibility of the cleanliness and appearance of the material handling equipment at the handover to the customer
• Presenting all vehicles for MOT
• Assisting with the placement of all vehicles safely, ensuring all equipment is in the correct areas on the Company's premises, in line with the Company's security policy
• Carrying out other duties from time to time, including but not limited to; office duties, check in/outs, vehicle cleaning, vehicle prep work
• Assist the sales team with the demonstration of all material handling equipment, hand over and demonstrate, where necessary, any rental equipment and ensure Company documentation, including rental agreements and check out reports are correctly signed by the customers and returned completed to the rental department notifying the line manager of defects found on any vehicles to be driven/operated using the driver vehicle check and defect reports
• Reporting any accidents/incidents and traffic offences committed, to the line manager at the earliest opportunity (not more than 4 hours)
• Driving in a responsible manner, complying with all current EU Road Transport Regulations at all times

Knowledge, Experience & Key Requirements

• Hold current LGV/HGV (Class 1) license
• Driver Qualification Card
• To complete tasks safely and within driving rules and regulations
• Good level of customer service and geographical knowledge
• The ability to complete basic forms and paperwork
• All drivers/service staff should be prepared to do physical work in the workshop for such things as stock checks, lorry unloading, stock movements, cleaning and demonstrations
