Cleaning Assistant

Our client is recruiting 2 Cleaning & Laundry Assistants to be based at the college. You will support the delivery of high standards of service and provide a high level of cleanliness and hygiene throughout as part of a team. This will include but is not limited to, classrooms, offices, boarding houses, bedrooms, and their Sports Complex.
KEY DUTIES:
- Vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and general cleaning of the College.
- Work as part of a team and assist others in the team to enable work to be completed.
- Ensure all equipment and chemicals are used and handled correctly at all times in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, COSHH regulations, and health and safety legislation. Using all supplies correctly and minimising waste.
Hours Available:
27.5 hours per week, 52 weeks a year. Monday to Friday from 4:30 am – 10 am in their Sports Complex. There will also be 5 additional hours on alternate Sundays, 5 am – 10 am. (26 Sundays a year) 25 hours per week, 52 weeks a year. 5 days over 7, so flexibility is required. During school term time, it would generally be 8:30 am – 1 pm or 9 am – 2 pm, but flexibility is required. This is a temporary 12-month contract, with maternity cover.
This post involves minimal contact with children, and the post holder will not be responsible for children. The post holder will be considered to be in regulated activity. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and the School is, therefore, permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are ‘spent’ unless they are ‘protected’ under the DBS filtering rules) to assess their suitability to work with children. Our client exists to provide a quality all-round education for pupils aged 13 – 18 and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Candidates must be prepared to undergo child protection screening and an Enhanced DBS check. They will be required to provide proof of their identity, right to work in the UK, and qualifications during the selection process. They will seek references on short-listed candidates that will include questions about past disciplinary actions or allegations in relation to behaviour with children and may approach previous employers for information to verify particular experience or qualifications before the interview.
