Job Purpose

The Client Liaison Scientist will work within the laboratory's Client Team reporting to the Production Manager and working under the supervision of the Senior Client Liaison Scientist. The designated point of contact for all analysis requests, incident management and customer queries/complaints.

You'll be able to provide a level of scientific support with regard to analytical techniques undertaken in the laboratory and explain to customer the limitations of the analysis provided. Team provide support to laboratory teams and production managers to deliver a robust analytical service.

 

Job Accountabilities

  • Designated point of contact for both internal and external laboratory customers
  • Maintenance of Quality system for Client team to meet requirements of ISO 17025
  • To manage and provide guidance on analytical requests including liaison with analytical teams to facilitate these requests
  • Reporting and interpretation of analytical results
  • Providing technical advice to the customer regarding appropriateness of analytical requests – to include knowledge of sample matrices and analytical method limitations
  • To keep up to date with changing regulatory requirements
  • End to end ownership of projects – including project set up, sample handling and reporting of results
  • Understanding and communicating any H&S risks associated with analytical requests
  • Preparing performance data for and attendance at laboratory customer liaison meetings
  • Monitoring laboratory performance against scorecard targets, customer expectations and SLA requirements

 

Knowledge and Skills

To be successful in this role you'll need a minimum of a level 3 qualification in a relevant scientific discipline in line with entry to Membership of a relevant scientific professional body (RSC for example) You'll also need:

  • A thorough understanding of the regulations to which the department operates – including ISO 17025, MCERTS, DWTS and ISO 5667
  • Good communication skills
  • High level of IT literacy to include laboratory systems
  • Basic understanding of, or experience in, analytical techniques used in an environmental laboratory
  • Maintenance of a fully compliant CPD
  • Financial awareness
  • Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous.
