Clinical Coder / Administrator

We are an expanding GP surgery in Horsham looking to recruit a Clinical Coder and Medical Summariser to join our friendly and hard working Workflow Optimisation Team / Administrative Team. Available hours Monday and Friday 08.00 - 17.30 (16 hours per week)

The right candidate should be able to demonstrate a good level of IT skills and computer literacy, ability to prioristise workload, strict attention to detail. The ability to work as part of a team is essential and the right candidate will be able to work calmly under pressure, whilst adhering to patient confidentiality at all times.

Experience in medical terminology, clinical coding or summarising is highly desirable.

Full Job Description -

Clinical Coding

· To triage incoming post on behalf of GP’s (all forms e.g. hard copy, electronic, emails and downloaded information).

· To action, update and manage personal and team tasks.

· To download and integrate patients records received via GP2GP.

· To code and redirect (where necessary) screening results e.g. cytology and bowel screening.

· To read code incoming patient diagnoses and results updating the patient record as appropriate.

· To forward documentation on to the wider multi-disciplinary team.

· To actively engage in system and protocol reviews with the team and lead clinician.

Summarising

· To summarise patient medical records when required.

Additional Responsibilities

· To cover elements of all practice administration where required supporting other areas and teams within the practice.

· To attend internal and external meetings applicable to the role, this will involve minute taking and specific meetings.

· To report daily on current workload and raise any problems to the Assistant Practice Manager or Practice Manager regarding workload
