Location: East Region (Mid-London to Nottingham, and everything East of here)
Travel: Regular travel is involved with this role, and our preference is for the successful candidate to be located within the East Region.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Development Manager (MRCVS) to join our team. As a Clinical Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the clinical operations across regional practices in the east of England. You will work collaboratively with multiple teams, build strong relationships with Practice Owners and provide clinical support and guidance to aid high-quality veterinary care and regulatory compliance. Working as part of the wider Pets business, you will help to forge links with our pet care centres, fostering collaboration and synergy between veterinary services and other pet care offerings.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
  • Provide clinical guidance and support to practice owners and practice colleagues to aid maintenance of high standards of veterinary care.
  • In collaboration with Quality Improvement and Education Teams offer expert advice to clinical colleagues, helping them stay up to date with advancements in veterinary medicine and techniques.
  • Working closely with practice leadership offer clinical mentorship to practice colleagues when circumstances require it.
  • Organise and facilitate clinical discussion forums for practice colleagues, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing and continuous learning. Provide a platform for clinicians to discuss challenging cases, share experiences, and exchange ideas.

Clinical Governance
  • Conduct regular clinical reviews of practices, supporting adherence to regulatory requirements, RCVS guidance, Practice Standards & Quality Improvement.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to enhance patient care, patient safety, client satisfaction, and overall practice performance.

Regional Support:
  • Offer regional support to practice teams, collaborating with operations teams to identify areas to support further improvement and implement effective strategies. Work closely with practice owners to facilitate their clinical goals and initiatives and alignment with the organisation's overall clinical and operational objectives.

Central business projects:
  • Lead and support business projects as the trusted clinical advisor, providing valuable insights and ensuring clinical considerations are integrated into decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive successful project outcomes while maintaining focus on clinical excellence.

Relationship Building:
  • Develop and nurture relationships with practice owners and practice colleagues to establish strong working relationships and be recognised as a trusted clinical advisor.
  • Working alongside the Clinical Services Manager to liaise and collaborate with veterinary and animal welfare organizations (e.g., VDS, RSPCA, etc.) to stay informed about industry developments, best practices, and regulatory changes. Support practice relationships and engagement with said organisations.

Quality Improvement Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with the Quality Improvement (QI) team to participate in quality improvement projects, and support disseminate project outcomes to the practice teams. Support practices with implementation of QI and patient safety resources.
  • Work closely with the QI team to identify opportunities for process optimization and share best practices across the organization, contributing to the continuous improvement of clinical care.

Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure practices comply with relevant regulatory requirements, monitor adherence to legislation, and advise on necessary changes or improvements.
  • Stay updated on veterinary regulations, and guidelines, providing guidance and support to ensure compliance across all practice locations.

Training and Development:
  • Identify training needs within the region and work closely with the Clinical Education team to design and deliver appropriate training programs. Promote Clinical Academy to clinical teams.
  • Support the professional development of veterinary teams by facilitating access to educational resources, workshops, and conferences.
  • Graduates - working with practice owners to facilitate in-practice support. Advise Clinical Education team with graduate escalations.

Best Practices:
  • Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices, and share relevant information with Practice Owners and practice teams.
  • Identify areas of best practice across the group and share them across your region, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

About You
You’ll be a veterinary surgeon and registered Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS). A post-graduate qualification is desired, though not essential, and you’ll have experience of delivering clinical expertise from within a clinical role, showing a strong understanding of veterinary practice standards, regulatory compliance and RCVS guidance.
This is a leadership role and so you will have a proven ability to lead and inspire teams, build collaborative relationships and influence positive change.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital as these will enable you to effectively liaise with our Practice Owners, practice teams and stakeholders at all levels. Your organisation and problem- solving skills will also be strong as you’ll need to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines whilst being analytical in your mindset. You’ll identify issues, propose solutions and drive continuous improvement.
Your adaptability will also be crucial. You’ll be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and environments whilst maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
