Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford and Trafford and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond. The Health and Justice Services provide mental health and substance misuse care across a number of different criminal justice settings.

We are seeking to recruit a HCPC Clinical Psychologist to join the IMHT at HMP Styal, on a temporary basis. This role is to support the mental health team and wider prison establishment in providing psychological assessment and formulation driven understanding of mental health, emotional distress, complex personality presentations and trauma responses. • To contribute to effective risk management strategies that ensure liaison with all relevant stakeholders in an individual’s care and incorporate service-user involvement where possible.
  • To communicate any changes to a service-users risk profile in a timely manner, both operationally and clinically and to report adverse incidents and ensure documentation is detailed and up-to-date.
  • To work collaboratively with service-users and staff teams and liaise with a range of other professionals and communicate sensitive and risk information.
  • To promote and advocate for a psychologically informed way of working.
  • To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with ethical and professional codes of practice.
  • To exercise autonomous professional responsibility.
