Job description

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as Clinical Reasoning Teacher for MBChB within the School of Medicine, to design and create new teaching resources for this curricular theme.


Clinical reasoning is a key skill for all doctors. We have recognised its importance by making it a curricular theme in our recent curriculum review. A framework has been developed highlighting the key aspects and where these should be placed within the MBChB course. The postholder will create teaching resources for this theme.


This post is 1PA, 4 hours per week, funded by NHS ACT. It has a fixed term of one year.

  • Developing the course content and teaching sessions for the Clinical Reasoning theme across years 1-5.

  • Working with the IT team to develop the MBChB Virtual Learning Environment theme pages for Clinical Reasoning.

  • Working alongside the assessment team to align the theme teaching with assessment and developing assessment materials where gaps in current banks are noted.

  • Developing a faculty development programme to facilitate teaching of Clinical Reasoning.



  • Senior medical staff, such as Consultant, GP or SAS doctor

  • Prior medical education experience desired
