Job description

The Role

To undertake care duties for patients in support of and delegated by the Registered Nurse, within a hospital or community setting. The post-holder will require to work without direct supervision on a regular basis, referring to the registered nurse as required.

What we'll need you to bring

  • SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • To actively participate in the Personal Development Plan process to fulfil the requirements of continuing professional development.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology

It would be great if you also have

  • Experience of working in a Mental Health or learning disability setting
  • Experience of working in a Mental Health in-patient setting
  • Knowledge of the issues that can affect people suffering from an acute or long term Mental Health problem
  • Car Driver a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence
  • Prepared to work flexible hours including rostered weekend shifts if required

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Community Mental Health within Airbles Road Centre.

The working pattern for this role will be Monday to Friday.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
