Job Title: Clinical Triage and Project Assistant – Herts Equipment ServiceLocation: Mundells, Welwyn Garden City, with some remote working Starting Salary: GBP35,745 with the opportunity to progress to GBP39,186 pa Hours: Full Time, Part Time, Job Share and Flexible hours consideredContract: Permanent

Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? We are looking for a Qualified Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Nurse to join our clinical team within Hertfordshire Equipment Service.
We work with prescribers, and a range of professionals, across adult social care and NHS organisations to ensure that the functional needs of Hertfordshire residents and/or their carers are met with suitable equipment or non–equipment solutions.
To support the professionals and services we work with, Hertfordshire Equipment Service are expanding our clinical team to reflect the increase in demand on the services we provide. The successful candidate will be working within a team of clinicians, with varying clinical specialisms, and will support the team on a day–to–day basis.
The clinical role with Hertfordshire Equipment Service is a unique opportunity to work in an emerging role to ensure people have the right information, advice, support, and training to increase their knowledge of the equipment solutions available within Hertfordshire. Clinicians need to be mindful of HES budgets as part of their day–to–day triaging responsibility.
The successful candidate will develop a knowledge of other services and a deeper understanding of the remit of the equipment service. This knowledge will enable the successful candidate to signpost to other services where there is a gap in equipment provision. The clinical team work collaboratively with other teams within Hertfordshire Equipment Service and with a variety of social care prescribers and health partners. The successful candidate will also regularly converse with company representatives and suppliers in relation to reviewing new items of equipment, and items already within the HES catalogue.
You will promote and support a strength–based approach to therapy intervention to maximise independence, health, and well–being and will help to ensure that the use of equipment solutions are proportional to the client's needs. This will require reviewing the clinical reasoning provided by the prescribers and making recommendations for non–complex and complex pieces of equipment when this is indicated.
There is also the opportunity to participate in project work as part of the role. Projects can relate to the development of HES processes and policies as well as projects to increase the knowledge and skills of prescribers across Hertfordshire.
You will need to be a confident individual, with the ability to work autonomously with non–complex cases and to be confident to challenge prescribers and make recommendations to ensure that equipment solutions are proportionate to clinical needs. You will need to have a flexible approach to support the clinical team and other teams within Hertfordshire Equipment Service.
You will be working to support prescribers with equipment solutions and to signpost to other services as appropriate. You will participate in contributing to the learning and development of others, including working with colleagues within Hertfordshire Equipment Service and with prescribers. You will need an agile, flexible & 'can do' approach to support the clinical team and Hertfordshire Equipment Service as a whole.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Complete triaging of non–complex orders for a range of equipment from a range of prescribers across Adult Care Services and the NHS. Provide advice and support to prescribers who are assessing for complex and non–complex pieces of equipment. Review order forms, clarify information from professionals and check requests are in line with the clients needs. Develop your skills in relation to the equipment available for prescribers to order, as well as the range of products available on the wider market.Assist the management team with day–to–day operational issues within Hertfordshire Equipment ServiceSupport the clinical team in the development, and implementation, of new policies and procedures within Hertfordshire Equipment Service.Disseminating and teaching best practices, in house and with prescribers, to help teams understand and adapt to changes and improvements.Project work available for an experienced candidate with an opportunity to make service improvement recommendations and provision. There is also business involvement available.Write prescribers guidance, functional equipment guides written by where relevant. Make compatibility charts and guides.Reduce costs, time, service usage. Reuse and recycle where possible.Liaise with the warehouse, suppliers, and PSL and representatives from those suppliers. Build knowledge and advising Prescribers WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
You must be a registered OT/Physiotherapist/Nurse and registered with the appropriate governing body.You must be a car driver and have access to a vehicle which can be used for business purposes.You must have post–graduate experience. The post is not suitable for newly qualified professionals.Experience with equipment solutions is not essential, but the successful candidate must have a desire to learn and expand their knowledgePressure Care and Tissue Viability skills would be desirable but not essential This is a really varied role in a wonderful supportive team. We are looking for the right person to join us so are able to offer part time, full time and flexible hours
For internal purposes this position will be Occupational Therapist or an alternative internal job title in line with Hertfordshire CC Job titles.
