Cmdb/Windows System Engineer

JOB TITLE: CMDB/Windows System EngineerSITE: Aldermaston, Reading SALARY: £34,000p/a Holding SC or DV clearance is mustROLE OVERVIEW:We are seeking a Windows System Engineer with an interest in developing a specialism in the areas of Configuration Management/Discovery and Monitoring. The candidate should have a solid background in Windows Server operating systems and the components that underpin an enterprise size Windows environment (e.g. Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy etc). They should also have a good understanding of Networking components and topology. The role will be to support various applications in the CMDB and Monitoring space. Specific application training (mixture of on the job and formal) will be provided however the candidate will also be expected to be an enthusiastic self-learner and be pro-active in the development of their knowledge.DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION:To be an integral member of the team supporting the following applications: SCOM Aternity Dynatrace Flexera uCMDB Undertake day to day support activities for the applications you are responsible for. For example: Daily checks Regular maintenance Application patching Certificate updates Incident resolution Fulfil customer requests related to the applications you are responsible for. Examples could include: Production of reports Amending monitoring of existing systems Creating monitoring for new systems Configuration of CMDB system to discover new CIs Partake in projects to upgrade, expand and develop the applications you are responsible forPreparation of documentation as necessary ensuring all work instructions and design documents are kept up to dateESSENTIALS SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:Solid background in Windows Server operating systems Knowledge of the following Window components: Active Directory Group Policy DNS DHCP Windows Firewall IIS Certificates Basic knowledge of Networking components: Switches Firewalls Routers SNMP Enthusiastic about developing knowledge and learning best practices in the Configuration Management and Monitoring space Proven ability to self teach and an ability to get up-to-speed in a short space of timeDESIRABLE SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of any of the following applications: SCOM Aternity Dynatrace Flexera uCMDB Experience administering SQL databases Understanding of Microsoft Azure Any Linux knowledge Comfortable with agile and waterfall methods of working Experience in writing technical documentation and work instructionsIf you have the skills, apply now "In applying for this position, you consent to your personal data being shared with the specified employer and for your details to remain with GTS for as long as is necessary to process your application.
