Job description

At FNH UK, we work a 4 day week (Mon - Thur 06:30 - 16:20) and offer 5 weeks holiday + bank holidays. All overtime is paid at 1.5X.

We are the only automatic small arms manufacturer in the UK and pride ourselves in producing the highest quality products.

The CMM Programmer will be responsible for ensuring a high quality standard is maintained, while supporting the Engineering and Quality teams to meet the customer demand within the required lead-time and cost.

The role reports to the FNH UK Senior Quality Engineer.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

Metrology

  • Measure components by either utilisation of controlled environment or bench measurement (1st principal techniques).
  • Ensure daily First off and batch inspection.
  • Create robust inspection strategies and Inspection Control Plans.
  • Regularly assess the businesses metrology capability in terms of equipment.
  • Manage internal and external calibration of equipment and tooling.
  • Responsible for calibration process and procedure development.
  • Raise nonconforming products and support root cause analysis and corrective actions when required.

New Product Development:

  • Develop and carry out product and process validation.
  • Lead initiatives that improve product & processes throughout the area of responsibility
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to product specifications, production processes, and quality control procedures.
  • Create CMM programs for inspection of new and existing components.
  • Support Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC) for key products.

Talent development:

  • Coach / develop Operators and Supervisors to ensure process control competency levels.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Metrology discipline with a minimum 3 years experience with similar experience as CMM Programmer / Metrology Engineer.
  • Excellent understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in drawings and CAD.
  • Advanced CMM programming experience on PCDMIS software.
  • Significant experience in optical non-contact equipment/ 3D optical scanning.
  • Working knowledge of AS9102 and First Article Inspection Reports.
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of metrology.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, heat treatment, assembly, etc.).
  • Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAIs), Process Capability analysis (Cp, Cpk), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Strong Leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
