Job Title:CMM Programmer


Pay Rate: £30.00 - £40.00 per hour Umbrella


Duration: 6 Months (Possible extension)


Location: Wolverhampton


Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours

Key Responsibilities:



  • Measurement of a multitude of Aerospace components using multiple types of measurement equipment in support of process development and PPAP.

  • Programming of gear measurement machines for the inspection of gears (after training).

  • Producing comprehensive measurement reports.

  • Working to defined processes and updating or implementing systems where there are deficiencies.

  • Support the introduction of automated measurement and associated analysis software (i.e. SPC)

  • Technical support to Manufacturing/Operations stakeholders.

  • Update and then implementation of control plans.

  • Any other activities as deemed required by the ME manager/ Chief Engineer

  • Essential Requirements:



    • Competency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings (GD&T).

    • Component manufacturing, metrology, and geometry.

    • Programming of Gear / component Measuring Machines (GMM)

    • Tactile contour and surface measurement.

    • Significant knowledge of metrology, first principles and measurement equipment.

    • Experience in programming Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMMs) using Calypso or similar.

    • Experience producing FAI reports.

    • Knowledge of Minitab Software.

    • Knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).

    • Experience managing and performing Capability Studies and creating associated reports.

    • Experience in a product development environment.

    • Aerospace / Automotive experience.

    • Desirable Requirements:



      • Manufacturing Execution systems

      • A very good knowledge of PPAP and APQP

      • Knowledge of control plans and FMEAs.

      • Good general Mechanical engineering technical knowledge.

      • Experience of 5S / general housekeeping duties, TPM Total Preventative Maintenance functions on metrology equipment.

      • Solid understanding of Six Sigma Core Principles, concepts and tools to include 5S, 8W, Route Cause Analysis, 8D, DMAIC.

      • Six Sigma Yellow Belt or above.

      • CNC machining (Turning/ milling & grinding)
