CNC Miller Programmer

Royston

Salary £29K - £34,000 DOE

Being an experienced skilled CNC Miller Programmer with a creative mind, we are looking for you to join our successful and expanding CNC team, at our site in Royston.

This unique position will allow you to develop and use your skills to make a difference in the engineering world, making prototypes of products of the future. These prototypes and short production runs have us working with some of the UK's leading product development and technologies consultancies, as well as independent design engineering companies, serving the medical, architectural, scientific, and engineering industries across the UK.

This gives us a unique perspective on the role that Britain's engineering and design talent plays on the world stage.

As a whole company, our services include, 3D printing, CNC machining, silicon tooling and vac casting.

Job Title CNC Miller Programmer

Terms Permanent, Full-time, 8-hours day shift, 5-day week.

8am-4.30pm with half hour unpaid lunch, totalling 40 hours a week.

21 days Holiday, plus bank holidays (increase with service)

Government Auto Enrolment Pension

SSP sick pay

Salary/rate Salary £29-34k - Negotiable Salary or day shifts (only with experience)

Requirements Available immediately, occasional over-time or weekend work, but not guaranteed.

About the role

We feel this is a unique role; by being involved in the making of prototypes for design consultancies. Most jobs are different with the work being one-offs, or short production runs. Being more challenging with few repeat types of work, makes it interesting.

The work is fast paced, as required by our customers, so they can quickly assess their prototypes or new designs. We therefore require our CNC Miller Programmers to be quick thinking, able to problem solve and have insight. Have an ability to work to short time scales and effectively self-time manage.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Responsibilities

  • You would complete all processes and procedures in adherence to company standards and policy, including GDPR, ISO, H&S.
  • Day to day: Produce 3 and 5 axis CNC programs with supporting documentation from both 2D drawings and 3D models using Mastercam CAM software.
  • Plan and program machining methods for components
  • Complete setting sheets
  • Design any tooling/fixtures to aid the efficient manufacture of precision parts.
  • Liaise with Assistant CNC manager regarding the scheduling of work onto
  • Communicate with shop floor staff, management, and customers to resolve engineering problems.
  • Assist with questions from shop floor staff and support ongoing live work.
  • Strive to improve cutting and manufacturing times on previously completed requirements.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest tech to drive continuous improvement and reduce scrap.
  • Company: you are part of a team, so will work together to get work out of the door on time. You will attend company meetings where your input is required. Cover holiday of your team.
  • Other general tasks that benefit the company and the team you work alongside.

Requirements

Essential

Proven background in CNC Programming

  • Ability to read engineering drawings. CAD/CAM essential.
  • Confident at explaining programmes and for different CNC machines.
  • Confident, able to work fast and under pressure.
  • Ensures consistent quality - attention to detail very important.
  • Confident to make quick decisions.
  • Excellent level of verbal communication and strong organisational skills
  • Understand the importance of our Company values and displaying these.
  • Have the right to work in the UK requirements.

Desirable

Health and Safety certificates or other engineering training

All parts are programmed using Mastercam so experience of using Mastercam
CAD/CAM software preferable.
