Job Information

Due to orderbook growth and expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a CNC Setter/Operator (Turning Department) based in Dartford, Kent.

The CNC Setter/Operator role is the core product realisation element of Kenard. The Setter/Operator will use their competence in engineering and CNC setting and operating to produce conforming products as specified in the batch card. This includes ensuring that all the customer requirements for the product and its method of production, records of production and criteria for workmanship are met. Main duties will include:

· To set and operate a range of horizontal & vertical turning centres, ensuring maximum utilisation of resources and minimum waste

· To apply engineering and machining skills to produce conforming products to exacting standards in accordance with batch cards and customer requirements

· To achieve performance targets set by the Production Manager

· To take ownership of and responsibility for all aspects of the work, ensuring an effective hand-over to the next internal customer

· Support 5S, LEAN and any other initiatives the Company may instigate as part of the continuous improvement drive.

· Follow the Company’s Health & safety Policy, ensuring that responsibilities to oneself and others are discharged, e.g. wear appropriate PPE.

Person Specification:

To be considered for this role, the likely candidate will have:

· completed an Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering/CNC Machining

· minimum of 4 years’ experience in CNC machine operating (this can include time spent as an apprentice)

· proven competence setting and operating CNC machine tools

· the ability to prove-out first-off jobs

· the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

· competency in lifting and slinging, including the safe use of cranes

· eyesight to meet company and customer requirements (with corrective lenses if required)

Desirable:

· Experience manufacturing components for the aerospace sector

· Understanding of LEAN manufacturing concepts

· Working knowledge of 5S

· IT literacy skills, including general office applications

· No programming experience is required for this role, however, some experience would be desirable


Job Type: Full-time, Permanent. Day shift

£negotiable

39 hour basic week

Overtime at 1.5x (when required)
