Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Wellbeing Co-Ordinator to join our team, based in London. You will be working on a part-time permanent basis (30 hours per week). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £28,000-£31,000 pro rata per annum.

St Luke’s is an established and award-winning charity providing services, community events and projects in the vibrant Old Street area of south Islington.  At the heart of what we do is a large modern community centre that welcomes thousands of visits each year.

The Wellbeing Co-Ordinator role:

As our Wellbeing Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for delivering a range of services and events provided from St Luke's Wellbeing Hub that improve the health and wellbeing of local residents including leading the delivery of food donation projects, overseeing effective information, signposting, befriending and grant-making services and ensuring that health and wellbeing is an integral part of community development

Responsibilities of our Wellbeing Co-Ordinator will include:

  • Lead the delivery of St Luke's food distribution services, e.g. Food Hub and Food Co-op, that support households experiencing food insecurity to have access to fresh, healthy and free/low cost food and produce
  • In collaboration with the Health & Wellbeing Manager to implement a range of strategies that support local residents who are experiencing disadvantage due to health or wellbeing issues including making referrals, grants or signposting to specialist agencies, and follow up this support with individuals to measure impact
  • Support the delivery of health-related activities and events led by the Wellbeing Hub, liaising with partners and volunteers as appropriate
  • In collaboration with the Community Engagement & Volunteer Coordinator, supervise and support a team of Wellbeing Hub volunteers
  • Support the work of the Wellbeing Hub in accordance with St Luke's commitment to high quality service provision and within the framework of the Code of Conduct Policy, Staff Equality Policy, Health and Safety Policy and Safeguarding Policies
  • Act as a qualified First Aider
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information relating to members, staff, volunteers and trustees
  • To carry out such other tasks as the Health & Wellbeing Officer may from time to time deem necessary for the effective and efficient functioning of the service

Essential Skills, Experience & Abilities we are looking for in our ideal Wellbeing Co-Ordinator:

  • At least 3 years experience of managing, developing, and delivering support and activities promoting health and wellbeing in the community
  • Experience in managing or supervising staff, volunteers and resources
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of health inequalities, mental health prevention and early interventions
  • Experience in supporting individuals to improve their wellbeing in a professional capacity, providing information, signposting, making referrals and following up
  • The ability to work in partnership with a range of individuals, organisations and groups to support and engage the local community
  • The ability to respond sensitively to the needs of local residents across all ages, from diverse backgrounds including people with complex needs
  • An understanding of how race, sex, age and other issues are relevant when providing support to users and in all dealings with staff, trustees, clients and other individuals
  • The ability to anticipate problems, design solutions, take initiative and be creative.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships
  • The ability to work flexibly including weekends and evening work if required
  • Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel and Power Point
