Job description

We are working with a highly customer focused business in the Financial Services industry, based in Northampton and we are looking for someone to join their friendly and supportive team as they continue their mission to provide exceptional customer experiences. As an experienced Collections Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring loan repayments are handled efficiently and with a focus on customer support.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Processing loan defaults in accordance with Credit Control procedures.
  • Contacting customers in arrears, negotiating and rescheduling repayments when necessary.
  • Managing ongoing payment plans, demonstrating attention to detail.
  • Resolving complex non-payment issues and working collaboratively with customers to develop budget plans.
  • Carrying out administrative activities, including running reports.
  • Processing court documentation and applications from Debt Management Plans (DMPs) and Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs).
  • Entering and issuing County Court Judgments (CCJs) and attending court hearings as required.
  • Working with third parties to manage portions of the arrears book.

What You'll Need
  • Brilliant communication skills, whether verbal or written.
  • Experience of supporting difficult or vulnerable individuals with calmness and empathy.
  • Have great team spirit and enjoy working with others.
  • Be proactive, flexible, and organised and empathetic.
  • Attention to detail and a good standard of numeracy.
  • Good understanding of debt collection legal requirements (e.g., IVAs, DMPs, Breathing Space) and debt collection options (e.g., CCJs, AOEs, ELDs).
  • Confidence with MS Office.
