Job Title: Caretaker

Position: Full-Time

What the role will entail:

  • To work as part of the Estates Team and wider College community to support our students.
  • To provide effective porterage and minor maintenance services as directed by the Estates Team Leader across all College sites.
  • To work across Wigan and Leigh campuses with alternating shift patterns
    • Week 1(Mon-Thurs) 6am-2pm
    • Week 2: (Mon-Thurs) 2pm- 10pm
    • Friday’s 10-6pm.
  • To drive the College minibus as a central part of daily duties including operating a shuttle minibus
  • Undertake the College postal service and related driving duties, including driving College vehicles between sites
  • Carry out site safety and housekeeping inspection checks.
  • Travel and work at any of the College sites as and when required.
  • Act as key holder for the premises with responsibility for locking and unlocking sites on a rota basis.
  • Access and monitor the Colleges security systems i.e. CCTV, fire alarms etc
  • Access and operate the College computer based ‘Help Desk’ system to effectively administer routine and responsive Estates tasks.
  • Work as part of a team, provide security duties undertaking regular patrols around the College estate and be actively involved in security of the premises.

The successful applicant will have the following:

  • Hold a full, clean UK Driving License and be able to drive a minibus for work purposes
  • D1 category on driving licence
  • Hold a relevant and up to date first aid certificate or be willing to gain the qualification
  • IT literacy, including having a working knowledge of windows based software
  • Have previous experience in a similar work
  • Have a practical working knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety at work as it affects estates and maintenance services
  • Ability to effectively undertake basic maintenance related duties
  • Literacy and numeracy skills to be able to undertake administrative tasks
