Job description

If you offer experience in the military or Cadet Forces this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role supporting Uppingham School in the provision of our exceptional Combined Cadet Force.

The Combined Cadet Force has always been a strong part of Uppingham life. There are approximately 230 pupils and staff members within the Combined Cadet Force and its contribution to Uppingham School is highly valued.

You will work with the Contingent Commander to support the school in the provision of our Combined Cadet Force. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as Range Manager and Health and Safety Adviser for the Uppingham School Small-Bore Range
  • Assisting with the planning and preparation of parade days
  • Attending weekend exercises/field days and camps
  • Cadet Force Adult Volunteer and Non-Uniformed Volunteers staff training, recruitment and retention
  • Assisting with the application and enrolment of new cadets
  • Teaching, instructing and advising all staff and cadets on military matters, including range work and drills
  • Acting as quartermaster and supply organiser to all services of the Combined Cadet Force (RN, Army and RAF)

About you

You will need military qualifications, such as Skill at Arms, range qualifications and will also need a full driving licence with the ability to drive a minibus.

You will also need experience of line management of staff and will be an ex-regular or reservist SNCO/ Warrant Officer or have extensive experience of the Cadet Forces.

Knowledge of the Cadet Forces ethos and a desire to support, encourage and develop cadets is equally important.
