SalaryOur client, a successful national insurance broker is opening a brand-new branch in Plymouth!
They’re looking for aCommercial Account Handler to join the team and develop new business in the local area. Sales experience within a commerical and personal insurance background is desirable.
You will be dealing with clients in person, over the phone and via email to ensure retention. You will achieve sales targets through efficient communication and negotiation skills and always go the extra mile!
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sales professional to build the business from the ground up – and have fun doing it. They’re opening more branches across the whole of the UK, so it is a really exciting and crucial time for them.
You will be excellent in:
- Cold calling and warming up/chasing leads
- Outbound calling to new business
- Achieving KPIs and targets
Job Details:
- Salary: Up to £32,000 p/a but this is competitive depending on experience + commission
- Full time, Monday – Friday 9:00-17:00
- Office based
- 90% office sales, 10% field sales
Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Account Handler:
- Identify areas for improvement and provide potential solutions to our client and reduce costs.
- Deliver excellent customer service whilst meeting customer requirements efficiently & effectively for new business.
- Understand the processes and procedures required - provide quotations & put forward suitable products to meet their clients demands and needs.
- Ensure that all product information provided is clear, fair, and not misleading, allowing the customer to make an informed decision.
- Calculate new business premiums in accordance with the specific carrier’s risk appetite and guidelines or liaise with insurers for all non-delegated authority business.
- Ensure that telephone calls are answered & dealt with promptly & efficiently.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records of all customer interactions.
- Identify complaints and refer to the necessary complaint handler.
- Dealing with queries by email, telephone and in person ensuring that all SLAs are adhered to.
- Ensure that you remain compliant in everything that you do; including but not limited to treating customers fairly, contract certainty & vulnerable customers.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Skills of the Commercial Account Handler:
- Competent in Microsoft; word, excel, outlook and internet.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Positive can-do attitude.
- Strong team ethic.
- Manage time effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Good personal organisation skills.
- Good timekeeping and presentation of self and work.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.

- Required to understand the legal principles of insurance and insurance contracts including our client’s obligations to insurers.
- Required to understand technical knowledge of the product range, including understanding of the coverage provisions, exclusions, and conditions of the policy wordings.
- You will need to have good judgement, be analytical, have great attention to detail, be flexible, self-motivated, driven & deliver excellent customer service.
Experience
- Sales experience within a commerical and personal insurance background is desirable.
Qualifications
- Cert CII qualification an advantage.
