What you'll be doing?
Oregon Timber Frame (OTFE), one of the UK’s largest Timber Frame manufacturers are a division of Barratt Developments PLC, Britain’s largest housebuilder, following an acquisition in 2019.
We specialise in the design, manufacture, supply, and erection of structural timbers to all divisions across the Barratt Group.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, as Commercial Assistant you will provide day to day support within the Commercial Department and be responsible for all material take-offs. You will liaise between factory / site teams / suppliers regarding materials supplies.
- Read drawings and produce material take-offs.
- Select correct materials for batching and issue to production department.
- On an adhoc basis deal with any matters arising between Suppliers/Site/OCM/Customers in connection with materials to or from site and factory.
- Assist the Commercial Co-ordinator with the monthly stock takes and daily checks.
- Carry out daily checks on stock, calculating correct stock levels through use of historical usage values and future workloads.
- Actively be the point of contact between factory / site / clients regarding materials.
- Issue purchase orders on all aspects of buying.
- Inform suppliers of slippage and amend on our FrameIT system.
- Liaise with factory continually regarding materials and deliveries.
- To provide cover during absences / holidays within the Commercial Department.
What you'll need?
- Ability to read production and architectural drawings
- Good time management: Ability to prioritise work load in a timely manner
- Computer literature in the use of Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent numeracy skills and attention to deal
- Organised and methodical
- Teamworking : Team player with a "can do" attitude
- Previous experience of material take-off techniques is desirable
- Previous experience of Timber Frame construction, preferable but not essential as appropriate training will be given is desirable
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong inter-personal and co-ordinating abilities.
