Job description

Full time, 3 days a week together out of our Manchester Digital Hub (flexible 2 days remote wherever).

A core element of BT Business’ strategy is to become a data driven business, where we use data, insight and analytics to drive the performance of the business.  Our job in the BI team is to transform the data capabilities available to the teams providing them with the best tools, quality data and analytics to support their needs.  
As a member of the BI team, you will play a key role in provision of commercial trading performance and contextualised business insight across Business, with a focus on Corporate Public Sector and Wholesale customers.  Combining commercial thinking with data analytics to provide the business with relevant and actionable insight, to inform and influence strategic and commercial decision-making.  The team is instrumental in educating stakeholders across Business on the value of data and analytics and how they can use data to drive performance.

 

Key Role Accountabilities:

•    CPS and Wholesale trading performance - Business approver of internally and externally published volumes metrics
•    CPS and Wholesale trading performance - provide contextualised insight and guidance on key drivers of performance
•    Provides CPS England & Wales with month end P&L reporting with tailored to the segment business insights impacting the volume trading business performance. 
•    Business owner of CPS and Wholesale commercial trading and sales business rules and data products, maintaining and upkeeping business rules and owning the creation and definition of new rules/data products
•    Identify and determine if there are issues with data or outlier results and establish who and what needs to be done to resolve the issue and will own business sign off/approval of any fixes/issues
•    Use initiative to identify commercial opportunities and “join the dots” to anticipate requirements for insight and analytics from stakeholders
•    Presenting findings back in a concise and coherent manner to provide stakeholders with actionable recommendations 
•    Valued business partner with the internal and external channel/department senior stakeholders, building a wide and effective stakeholder relationships and support the complex stakeholder management requirement of an organisation of this scale and effectively prioritise the workload / deliverables
•    Own data improvements/requirements for program deliverables / product launches needed to underpin key processes for commercial trading and finance
•    Defining the CPS and Wholesale commercial trading KPI measurement framework ensuring consistency and integrity
•    Provide commercial and sales teams with easy self-serve access to Commercial Trading information and data
•    Expert in managing a small team, using your technical skills and experience to assure the quality of their work, coaching them for success, developing their skills, and managing their priorities to ensure sustained focus on greatest value driving activities

 

Experience:

 

Must have:

•    High level of commercial awareness and business acumen
•    Experience and ability to understand complex data then translate your analysis into clear and concise language for senior managers.
•    Preferred domain experience and expertise in the Business telecoms market, its products and systems
•    Eager to explore new features or tools to drive engagement and activation.
•    Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across multiple departments to deliver a vision or goal with various moving parts.

 

Additional:

•    Story-telling with data: strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences via data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Qlik and Excel, PowerPoint or similar tool
•    Making the difficult, simple to clearly communicate latest data and reports to all levels of the organisation and manage expectations of several director level stakeholders and effectively prioritise the workload / deliverables
•    Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g. business KPIs, business cases)
•    Analytical and Critical thinking skills prepared to challenge conventional thinking
•    Knowledge of SQL programming language and data interrogation techniques to support analysis
•    Creative approach Is curious about the organisation and seeks out challenging situations for themselves and others.  Captures ideas for new ways of working
