Commercial Director

The Head Master and the Bursar of Eton College are delighted to receive applications for the newly-created post of Commercial Director.

Eton College is one of the world’s foremost educational institutions, educating 1,340 boys in a full boarding environment and sitting at the pinnacle of academic endeavour, co-curricular range and pastoral excellence. The College is well known for its significant contributions to public good through extensive partnership and bursary programmes, and is wholly committed to adding value to the wider educational community through outreach and charitable endeavour.

The Commercial Director will lead the diversification of Eton’s revenue streams beyond core school-fee income, supporting the College’s ability and ambition to deliver an outstanding educational product both to its own students and beyond its four walls. By sensitively leveraging the commercial potential of Eton’s magnificent 400-acre estate on the banks of the river Thames, the Commercial Director will identify, strategically plan and implement commercial programmes and initiatives across the College’s grounds, buildings and facilities, and will manage a growing team and their delivery of these activities.

Crucially, the Commercial Director will deliver all commercial activity in a highly sensitive and emotionally intelligent manner, demonstrating outstanding stakeholder management skills and an ability to synthesise commerciality with a deep understanding of the sensitivities of an academic institution. Applications are welcomed from established commercial leaders from the education, not-for-profit, property and housing, hospitality and leisure, healthcare or retail sectors, or any other having developed in candidates a set of attributes transferrable to the independent school sector.
