The role
As a Commercial Manager, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. As part of Energy & Marine sector specialising in naval architecture, systems engineering, multidiscipline design support and project management and in-service commercial and defence vessels; you will be supporting our next phase within the Type 31 project following a recent full contract award.
Day to day, you will be responsible for planning activities to subcontract closure, reporting progress on weekly basis and ensuring commercial plans are developed to underpin execution activities.
- Management of Graduates and Higher Level Apprentices.
- Provide assistance, support and guidance on all commercial issues within the projects, ensuring that commercial staff attain their maximum potential.
- Review all commercial plans to deliver maximum margin.
- Able to advise on appropriate agreements - Teaming Agreements, Bidding Agreements, subcontracts with flow-downs, etc.
- Identify improvements to commercial procedures.
- Provide Commercial support to Contract Lead on Major Subcontract Package.
- Manage the monthly commercial audit process and ensure work is being completed in line with agreed scope.
- Maintain the claims log, developing and negotiating robust Contract claims in a timely manner; and ensuring the Contract process is administered correctly to protect the Company
This is a full-time permanent role at 37 hours per week and will be based at Rosyth with requirement to travel to client and subcontractor sites.
Essential experience of the Commercial Manager:
- Defence sector and working with the Ministry of Defence experience
- Experience of development and implementation of procedures
- Knowledge of a wide range of contract conditions
- Strong contractual experience
Qualifications for the Commercial Manager:
- Qualified to degree level ir equivalent in a commercial discipline is desirable
