Overview

At Centrica Business Solutions (CBS) we provide integrated energy solutions that deliver cost efficiency, resilience and accelerate our customers' journeys to a low carbon future. In Centrica Energy Assets (CEA) within CBS we are building a 1GW portfolio of flexible energy generation assets including solar, battery and hydrogen ready peaking plants to help drive the transition to Net Zero.

We are building our commercial function in CEA as we grow our pipeline of generation projects. The Commercial Manager role is an additional role to the business and you will be leading on the commercial development of solar and battery projects, executing a range of complex contracts and supporting negotiations. You will collaborate and nurture relationships with a range of stakeholders including origination, analysts, law firms, developers and landowners/agents.

Travel Requirements - Occasional travel to other Centrica sites and projects in UK and Europe.

The Role

You'll lead on the commercial development of solar and battery projects by working closely with the origination leads to support & negotiate option and lease contracts. Managing key commercial and business risks and mitigations for individual deals will be part of your role. You will build the business case development with analyst collaboration to ensure profitability is maintained.

You will also support the governance approval processes by writing and presenting investment papers to the leadership team. Reviewing and analysing contractual terms in deals such as NDA, leases, SPAs, APAs, options, exclusivity, Joint Venture arrangements, and Framework Agreements will be critical to our success. Lastly, you will also need to support deal negotiations to ensure CEA drives value from all transactions.

The Person

To be successful in this role we would like you to have renewables experience in the commercial field (Solar, Battery Storage). You will have experience of contractual terms and due diligence, ideally the legal side of land agreements. A STEM related background is preferred (numerical) or legal. You will also have manged risks in renewables projects and understand the key value drivers in projects.
