Commercial Project Manager
Salary & benefits: £38,867 - £42,500 dependent on experience + bonus + pension
Location: Buttershaw, Bradford, hybrid working
Purpose of the role
Working as part of the Markets Team, the Commercial PM will develop and deliver Commercial Projects that support the core operation of the Yorkshire Water and Kelda Group.
This will involve the production of early stage feasibility papers including financial analysis and technical analysis and ultimately the business cases to inform investment decisions.
In the delivery phase the Commercial Project Manager will ensure that projects of work are delivered to time, cost and quality, and that project risks are managed in line with business targets, whilst ensuring health and safety, regulatory and statutory compliance is achieved. This may be through direct project management or support to project and programme managers elsewhere in the business.
The role will work collaboratively with many other business areas.
Key accountabilities, specific to the role:
- Explores and recommends alternative delivery models to meet agreed outcomes within a capital constrained environment.
- Assists with commercial and contractual negotiations.
- Develops business cases containing sound research and analysis into the application of new technologies and commercial models.
- Works with professional advisor teams to develop and deliver projects.
- Works with subject matter experts to identify and evaluate project risks and risk appetite
- Works with Legal function to satisfactorily manage risk apportionment between Yorkshire Water and contracting entities.
- Prepares business cases based on sound research and analysis.
- Work with colleagues across the business to understand challenges and identify opportunities for intervention.
- Identify new market trends, technical and commercial innovations which could be deployed to support the business.
Project management:
- Delivers a high performing Project Management capability to ensure outputs are consistent, of excellent quality and compliant with Yorkshire Water's standards and procedures.
- Work to milestones and timelines agreed with the business.
- Manage project scope within limits agreed with the Commercial Manager and Commercial Programme Manager and escalate proposed changes beyond this to the Sponsor for a decision.
- Ensures project risks are understood, reviewed regularly and escalated to the Commercial Manager and Commercial Programme Manager as appropriate.
- Maintains a flexible / creative approach to the delivery of projects.
- Secures relevant governance approvals for all project stages, including business case, procurement, and contract award.
- Manages relationships and communication between all stakeholders, ensuring requirements of all parties are captured and understood, and facilitates discussion and agreement between parties on scope, constraints and approach to risk transfer in delivery.

- Full valid EU driving licence
Desirable:
- Good understanding of water and waste water treatment
- Experience of energy / renewable power related projects
- Experience of delivering against challenging business targets.
- Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.
- Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviour
- Experience of applying different delivery models based on business needs
- Qualified in Project Management discipline e.g. APM, Prince 2, Agile
- Good understanding of quality assurance practices.
