Vacancy: Commercial Sustainability Lead
Location: UK Flexible

As the Commercial Sustainability Lead you will support the business to drive value through sustainability by delivering commercially focussed sustainability activities and taking responsibility for the commercial projects within the CT sustainability programme.
Your goal / purpose will be to enable the commercial teams to access, communicate and embed sustainability into their roles by delivering sustainability-based value propositions with a high degree of integrity, appropriately using data and insights from the CT sustainability team and wider business.

Your responsibilities:
  • To own the Commercial Sustainability activity timelines, critically assessing and reporting on progress. Using data efficient methods such as appropriate reports, visualisation and dashboarding to generate relevant insights. To report on status, progress against goals and gap analysis, in a format suitable for leadership/executive level stakeholders.
  • Provide critical review of proposed sustainability messaging from the business and ensure a high degree of integrity and transparency.
  • Together with the CT Sustainability Manager, be a key contact for the commercial teams for sustainability, supporting them in customer facing interactions as needed as a source of sustainability expertise. Own and deliver CT’s customer sustainability request responses.
  • Use sustainability expertise to support and train colleagues as needed.
  • In collaboration with other business intelligence functions and the CT Sustainability Analyst, provide sustainability insight for CT’s relevant market segments by collating relevant news and intelligence on sustainability in areas of strategic importance to the business, including leadership/executive level briefings on these developments.
  • To drive a OneJM approach in all activities and act as a sustainability champion for the business.
Requirements for the role:
  • Demonstrable commercial experience including customer facing activities, commercial contracts, sales negotiations, marketing.
  • Outstanding communicator across all formats with a high degree of independence
  • Excellent analytical skills set, able to seek out, assess and generate insights with ease and understand the commercial relevance. Works efficiently with data in a well organised manner.
  • Strong technical background, able to understand engineering calculations, chemistry and sustainability (degree level or equivalent)
  • Systems thinker – able to understand the influence of one activity on many others.
  • Comfortable with sustainability concepts such as LCA, emissions factors mass and energy balance (LCA experience is not needed)
