Job description

Research & Enterprise Directorate at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint to the post of Commercialisation Manager (Medicine Health and Life Sciences).

The postholder will work closely with academic staff to commercialise the outcomes of the University’s research including a focus supporting Medicine, Health & Life Sciences.

The role will be responsible for supporting new initiatives related to ICURe programmes; relationship management related to major new alliances in the sector; support for commercial cases in the MHLS Faculty; and other related areas of activity.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • An honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline e.g. Medicine, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Business, Law; and
  • Relevant experience in a similar role that will demonstrate experience outlined below:
    • ­Recent relevant experience and expertise in either successful translation and commercialisation of research, Intellectual Property and know-how.
    • Experience of successfully developing and cultivating commercial partnerships and licenses, particularly with business, universities, research institutions or government departments and agencies.
    • Experience of working in a dynamic and changing environment, with evidence of formulating clear business strategies and adhering to good governance practices.
    • Experience of controlling budgets and resources and an understanding of financial management procedures.
